Just got hired for my first job in the IT industry

Well I didn’t expect this to happen today. I just accepted my first position as a Help Desk Analyst. It’s a contract to hire position that is 100% remote. I initially didn’t want to consider the role because the pay is so low but I am at the point where I have to get experience somewhere and it’s been three years since I’ve had a legitimate “job”.

Public service announcement for people who want to skip helpdesk to avoid working with the customers

There are a lot of questions where people ask if they can avoid the helpdesk in a variety of situations and I'm not here to answer that question. I am going to touch on another topic though.

Has anyone been job searching for only fully remote jobs? How's it going?

I don't have a high salary requirement (I don't think). 50-60K. I can do L2 and 3 tech support, consult on projects. Basically I'm an IT generalist with 12 years various experience (Windows server, AD, Exchange/O365, PHP, SQL etc etc) that knows how to find the specialists when I need them.

Denied promotion, but brand new employee got the spot. Is this normal?

Now, first things first, the promotion is literally nothing. No additional work, a 1-2% raise, and a title change. The job descriptions are word for word the exact same...I know they are because I save every job description when I apply for a job, and I saw the job listing for the new position and they were the same.

What do I need to do to get to sysadmin level positions?

So I'm unhappy with my job but I'm not sure what to do to get out of it? I'm working as a Service Desk analyst in title but I do a ton of systems administration stuff in resonsibility. I think I want to continue my systems adminstration work and move on in that line but, I'm not sure what to do.

Anyone familiar with the Google IT Support Professional Certificate? Is it helpful for entry level positions?

I'm looking at making a career change as soon, and realistically, as possible. Thanks for your feedback!
