ServSafe is a food and beverage safety training and certificate program administered by the National Restaurant Association. The program is accredited by ANSI and the Conference for Food Protection. Sanitation certification is required by most restaurants as a basic credential for their management staff. To date over 5 million ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certifications have been awarded.

Length of Exam The ServSafe Food Handler assessment is a 40-question, non-proctored test. It has no time limit, meaning test-takers may complete at their own pace. On average, test-takers work through the exam within 90 minutes.
If you were assigned a course by email, your Course Access Key will be sent to the email address that the Administrator used to assign you the course. If you were assigned a course by your ServSafe User ID, your course will be in your ServSafe.com account.
Knowing your exam date in advance will help you plan your learning schedule. View the course in several short sessions each no longer than 1 hour. ServSafe Manager Online Course: 8-10 hours in length. ServSafe Alcohol Online Course: approximately 4 hours in length.
You simply need to complete a training course and pass a test, then you'll have a food handler permit valid for Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, or wherever you live in the state. Additionally, many programs allow you to print your certificate right away so that you can get to work fast.

90 questionsWhat is the passing score for the ServSafe Food Protection Manager Examination? A passing score is 75% or higher. This is obtained by answering at least 60 out of 80 questions correctly. The exam has 90 questions; however there are 10 pilot questions that are for research purposes only.
