A note about exam re-takes: generally, you may take a Saylor Academy final exam as many times as needed in order for you to pass it. However, all final exams have a mandatory waiting period between attempts of 7 days for regular certificate exams and 14 days for Direct Credit exams.

The organization’s recent emphasis has been to create course materials that mimic those one would find at a traditional university. Saylor employees search for and assemble collections of open-source learning materials, which range from instructor-made syllabuses and reading lists to lectures and reading materials.

The Saylor Academy has also partnered with Thomas Edison State College to create an Associate of Sciences in Business Administration program. Students can take the courses for free and complete a series of exams and portfolio assessments to receive college credit.
When the credit recommendation for a course renews, three more attempts will be available. Typically, a course is recommended for three years at a time. (For example, if a course is recommended for credit from June 2019 through May 2022, you have up to three attempts on the credit exam during that time.)
Saylor has a direct partnership with over 30 partner colleges that have formal credit arrangements. Not all of their partners accept all of their courses for credit. Furthermore, the course equivalency list may be one or more semesters old.
