Is a 13 handicap in golf good?

While not quite a scratch player, you have plenty of experience and get around a course well. For the rest of the golfers near the middle and above, it is all about practice and experience.

How many strokes can a 12 handicap take?

For example, a player with a Course Handicap of 12 is entitled to one additional stroke on holes allocated with stroke index 1 through 12 on the scorecard. On a par 4 hole, with a Stroke Index of 10, the player's maximum score would be 4 (par) + 2 (double bogey) + 1 (stroke received) = 7.

What is the highest score a 10 handicap can post?

With Equitable Stroke Control (ESC), every golfer is assigned a maximum score allowable on a hole. The limit depends on the player's Course Handicap (not the Handicap Index). As the table below shows, a 10-handicapper could take no score higher than 7 on any hole, regardless of its par.

Ha, ha! I have to admit when I re-read my post it did sound a little more ornery than I'd intended. Sorry about that. I've been playing this game for 55+ years so I can get that way about

Doesn't look like it. It does "regular" stats like GIR, # of putts, etc... Probably has all the data it needs so maybe in a future release.

Are these features iOS only? I don't see anything like this in mine and just re-installed it to check.

It would need each hole map geocoded for fairway/rough/sand and so forth.

Oh great; can't wait to see guys whipping out their phones on the green, squinting in the sun trying to see their screen so they can "study" the subtle breaks in their 6 foot bogey putt. It's bound to slow pace of play, which is the last thing golf needs.

I am wanting an official GHIN handicap app tracker and don’t want to use the GHIN app as it seems not to work well and doesn’t get any good reviews.

In real life, I'm a software engineer. Yes, the GHIN app is a mess of terrible UI, UX (hamburger menu as a primary navigation needs to die in a fire but some godawful PMs won't let it) and hasn't been updated in any significant way in 5+ years. I have no doubt if I were tasked with a code review; it'd be extraordinarily ugly.

When I did my trip to California I joined the NCGA and their app was pretty decent.

DivinDave

There are no golf c;lubs near me that will let me participate in the GHIN unless I join as a member of the club. So I had to look at the online options.

We've had numerous threads like this over the past dozen or so years. In about 90+% of those threads it eventually comes out that the OP actually wants an "official" USGA handicap because he needs it in order to play in a tournament. It typically takes a number of pages for this to be admitted.

Minarets

I just want a HC that is “official” and not looked down upon by others. I have no problem paying 30 to join the TGA and using then GHIN app but if you read the reviews there aren’t many positive ones in the last 6months.

bladehunter

Another iPhone user of the GHIN app and I’ve never had an issue. Works perfectly.
