Eight ways to play golf at the course that hosts Masters
Here are your options. Watching golf inherently makes you want to play golf, which makes Masters week equal parts pleasure and pain.

But that doesn't mean a committee of Augusta National Golf Club members sits down and decides who gets to play and who doesn't.

The U.S. Amateur is a match-play tournament, so getting into the championship match—even if you lose it—gets you into the Masters. Augusta National Golf Club is a private club and is only accessible to club members and their guests. The public may visit the course only during the Masters Tournament and only with the proper ticket or badge.
The most common way to play golf at Augusta National would be to get invited by one of the club's members. The club's membership roll is not public, but it's believed that Augusta National has about 300 members, and most are allowed to bring guests on select days of the season to play golf.
There are roughly 300 members of Augusta National, and being invited by one of them is the quickest way to get a round in at the famous course. Members are allowed to bring a guest on the course for a relatively small fee of $40.
To join is reportedly under $100,000, which might be one-tenth of other high profile clubs in the country. And if you were lucky enough to play the course with member, you can probably afford it. Guest fees are said to be about $40.
However, despite being a 5-time champion at the Masters, Tiger Woods doesn't have a membership at the Augusta. The other option for Charlie to play at the Augusta would be to become a volunteer.
Masters tickets are considered the second-hardest to obtain in sports, trailing only the Super Bowl. Tickets — or badges — are cheap if you are lucky enough to be a patron or win the annual lottery. If you don't get tickets directly from Augusta National, be prepared to spend thousands.

Not just the Masters itself, but the run-up to the tournament and the preparation that goes into playing. Players who are eligible are allowed to play practice rounds at any time the club is open.

Members are allowed as many as four guests at a time, depending on the time of the year, and guests can play without a member, as long as the member is on the property while his guests are playing. No guests are allowed during the four big member-only events each year.
The club admitted its first black member in 1990, media executive Ron Townsend, and there are an estimated nine Black members at Augusta National today.
Membership is believed to cost between $100,000 and $300,000 and annual dues were estimated in 2020 to be less than $30,000 per year. Club members are sometimes referred to as "green jackets."

These Masters qualifications usually result in a tournament field of from 90 to 100 players. The winners of what are considered major championships receive a lifetime honorary, non-competing exemption once their playing exemption expires.
