In May, Pearl’s company bought the 127-acre property for $43.25 million from Concord Wilshire Companies. This hotel cannot accomodate the amount of people they book. They are understaffed and treat their guest terrible, I went for Super Bowl weekend. I waited hours to watch the game in their lobby. One of their guests gave their employee $500.00 and they held a whole area for them, and tried to turn the TV on the rest of their guests.
The Diplomat Hotel opened in nearby Hollywood in 1958, built by Samuel Friedland, a Russian immigrant who founded the Food Fair grocery chain in Philadelphia in 1933.
