There are eight in total in the game, but you don’t get access to all of them from the start. You only get access to Eagle City G.C, the most basic course in the beginning, and the rest unlock as you make your way through the single player tournaments. There are re-imaginings of classic courses, Alpine set courses, and Hawaiian set beach-side holes for you to play on. You unlock another course for use in all modes when you finish every other rank’s VS characters. That only applies for single player tournaments and online play — you cannot access a course online until it has been unlocked in single player.
That means you might be waiting some time for the courses to be playable. You can expect it to take approximately fifteen hours of playing in single player to unlock the third course, which is far harder than the starter courses. That means that some of the courses may be played by only a few people online, leaving Open Courses empty for the speedier players. You simply need to grind the single player tournaments and battle against the VS characters to unlock more.
Once you start a new game, you'll be introduced to world of Everybody's golf by chairman Suzuki, a middle-aged man who appeared through the series, both as caddie and playable character. You will be prompted to create your character and after that, you'll move to Home Area. Home Area is a hub from where you'll take challenge tournaments, play matches against VS characters and go to Open courses in online mode.
Upgrade your custom clubs until at least Power level 20. I had success with Level 21 and other players are reporting they scored condors with 18. Remember you can use power shot to extend the distance.
In order to come back to teeing off faster, replay a shot with button, press and quit the round. From there you can instantly try again.
Get a Triple Precision ball. You can earn them in Special Rank tournaments and by fishing. You do not use them up when playing on a single hole, so you don't need more than 1.

Increase Back Door - Chip-in with any club, or sink 15+ ft putt. Maximum is 10. With higher values it's more likely that ball will be caught by edge of the hole, twirl around it and finally sink in.
Increase Control - Get the ball as close to the pin as possible from further distance (60 yards and more). Maximum is 15.
The Limitations are currently that you only have 11 chances to Level Up the club to the status you desire. While the potential is that a custom club does have a maximum of [25, 15, 15, 10], this is not possible as we theoretically have only 33 Levels to work with… Each time you choose to level up your clubs there is a chance that you will only get a upgrade of 1 to 3 levels. So on average you’ll be looking at a Custom Club that is maxed at Lv.22.
No matter what you do, you cannot escape the fate that the Custom Club you have… but at least now you can get the most out of it right?
The game words it in a way that if you recycle the Custom Club that it will become better or something, there is no solid evidence of this unless the potential rolls get better with each recycle I would say that recycling just gives you a new set of potential numbers for you to work with. It could be better overall Lv. potential but it might not be the status you were hoping for.
Since we can get 2 extra sets without spending money, it is best to unlock these two first. If you’re happy with the potential of these two then you can just work with those… otherwise you can go the extra mile and get the last 2 sets available from the Store.
Well getting Power Lv.25 isn’t that hard at all, what you want to do is have as many Blank Custom Clubs available to you. This allows you to work out the potentials of each club and choose which to keep and which to recycle. Continue to recycle the ones that aren’t useful to you and keep the ones that have high overall Lv. or that suit your needs.
When you use a Custom Club for awhile it does eventually need repairs, however the negative effect if not repaired seems to be that you cannot see the Flag marker on the power bar, which is not a big deal for players who know what they are doing. This means you can effectively use the clubs as long as you want without spending gems or S-tickets to repair them at all.

POWER: Stop the power gauge as close to 100% as you can, and land your ball on the fairway or green. Improving this technique means you can hit balls even further. CONTROL: Land your ball as close to the hole as possible with a shot from over 60 yards. This will help you reduce sway in your shots.
Play offline with up to three of your friends to be crowned king or queen of the course.
BACKSPIN: Get your ball on to the green with a touch of backspin. Raising this level will strengthen your backspin technique.
Winning is great, but looking good while winning is the way the pros do it.
Hit the greens in solo or multiplayer rounds, enter high-stakes tournaments, climb worldwide leaderboards… or… zip across the courses in golf buggies, chill out with a spot of fishing and take a nice relaxing dip in the ocean.
