Meanwhile, Bart and Lisa have found Grampa's old metal detector, and intend to use it to find buried treasure. Their first few attempts, however, mostly pick up nothing but buried junk. After the incident at the farmhouse, the two find themselves once again in a romantic mood, and book an evening at a local bed and breakfast.

Free-Range Children: It's rather odd that Homer and Marge need to take the kids with them to dinner since, for a good deal of the episode, they can spend time at both their house and even go to the Aztec Theater with little objection. Presumably, Homer and Marge were so into their libido that they didn't care.
As for Bart and Lisa's treasure hunt, the two find a true treasure buried near the Aztec Theater: a film reel with an alternate ending to Casablanca, one where Rick and Jane end up together. Apparently, the Old Jewish Man worked on the movie, and tried to tack the ending onto the picture.
The title is an allusion to That '70s Show. The apartment complex that Homer and Marge live in is a reference to Melrose Place. Homer's first group was a "new jack swing"-flavored R&B quartet in the style of Boyz II Men.
In the meantime, Homer's band Sadgasm becomes popular, but fame is little comfort for him after his breakup (even after having one of his songs covered by "Weird Al" Yankovic ), and he composes "Margerine", a heartfelt song dedicated to Marge, who realizes that Homer still loves her.
Sadgasm's songs are reminiscent of Nirvana songs, with the exception of "Margerine", a parody of "Glycerine" by Bush. Weird Al parodying Sadgasm is a reference to his Nirvana parody (numerous artists have said they didn't think they were successful until Weird Al made a parody of their songs).

As they're walking on foot, they're picked up by newlyweds Maude and Ned Flanders. Thus, Marge and Homer were in separate rooms at the cabin while Ned spent time with Maude.
After watching Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, both Marge and Homer end up inside a tiny castle in a mini-golf course. That's pretty weird, but hey, they made it work!

As entertaining as Homer and Marge's relationship is, the series is made whole by the entire family which, of course, includes their three children Bart, Lisa, and Maggie. It's hard to imagine this family any other way, but it turns out, none of this was really planned by Homer and Marge.

When they go through they see a golf course, and sees Jimbo sucking up to Doctor Hibbert, and gets 20 bucks for doing so. He asks how he got the money and he says he's a caddy, so he goes to the clubhouse and gets a job.
