Does DVC offer composition and reading classes?

Please note, you must take the online placement process before enrolling. DVC offers composition and reading classes at both our Pleasant Hill and San Ramon campuses. To see the current or upcoming classes, please use the searchable schedule.

How do I apply to take a class at DVC?

If you are under 13 please contact the Admissions and Records office for an application by email at admissions@dvc.edu . If the instructor has space, they will need to authorize you to add the class and so they will need your student ID#.

If you previously completed courses at DVC, LMC or CCC, but have not taken a class for one year or more, you will need to begin at step one, and reapply for admission. What happens if a prerequisite is approved?

If a prerequisite is approved, admissions and records will clear the prerequisite block so a student may register online or in person. Students will be notified via InSite email whether their request is approved or denied.

How long before a student registers for college do you need to submit a prerequisite?

This should be submitted at least 3 business days before a student’s registration date.

How long does it take to get reinstated after dropping a course?

Students must come in person to the Admissions and Records Office to obtain a stamped reinstatement form within two business days of the drop.

What happens if you don't drop a class?

Non-attendance or non-payment of a class will not remove the student from enrollment and will not remove the responsibility to pay the registration fees. Students who do not drop a class may receive an “F” for the term.

When will students be registered in class?

Students will be registered in the class at the time the form is submitted; the form will not be accepted prior to a student's registration date. Admissions and Records will forward the form and documentation to the discipline faculty and department chair for review.

Regardless of grade level, all PE courses must be added on or after the first day of the class and with the instructor’s signature on the special admissions recommendation form and schedule request form .
