In these classroom sizes, you are treated like a student and not just another number. I was able to build a great student-faculty relationship, which is very difficult to do in larger institutions like the UCs and CSUs. Cypress College was also an affordable option that fit my budget perfectly.

It’s also important to note, that courses close for registration at midnight on the day the class begins. So, a class that has it’s first meeting at 7 p.m. on a Monday, will be unavailable without an add code beginning at 12:00 that day. Adding Classes Providing prerequisites have been cleared by a counselor, and class seats are available, classes can be added during myGateway registration. After registration is closed, students must obtain a four-digit Add Code from the instructor of the class(es) they wish to add.

Enrolling in online classes is the same procedure as enrolling in traditional on campus classes at Cypress College. Please visit the Registration Information page and refer to the schedule of classes for current offerings.
When myGateway advises that a class is closed, a student can choose the option to be placed on the waitlist. If a seat becomes available, the waitlisted student will be notified via email that they have 48 hours to add the class through myGateway. Once classes have started, students must contact the instructor of the course for an add authorization code.
Distance Education instructors need your valid email address before the class begins because they usually send emails prior to the start of the semester. Before you register:
Canvas is updated for class enrollments two times a day (4:30 a.m. & 4:30 p.m.). If you register for a class in myGateway at 12:30 p.m., then you will have access to Canvas after the 4:30 p.m. enrollment run. It will be up to your instructor to enable you to access your Canvas course site.
To petition, be sure to attend the first class meeting. Closed Class — Generally a course is listed as “closed” because it it either full or it has already begun (this includes beginning later in the same day). A waitlist may be available and the course may also be available to students wishing to petition.
In the majority of cases, instructors do not provide add codes before the first in-person meeting. Because of these two facts, instructors may not be able to respond to email inquiries.
