Test the following combinations and explain why each does not have the properties needed to describe the concept of velocity: Δ d + Δ t, Δ d − Δ t Δ d × Δ t, Δ t / Δ d.

Answer

Δ t + Δ d will increase when either constant increase. The sign of Δ d − Δ t will depend on how big Δ d and Δ t is. Δ t × Δ d will increase when either constant increases. Δ t Δ d decreases when there is an increasing displacement. It will also increase when there is an increase in the time period.
