If you do not add during that time, your chance to add expires and permission goes out to the next person on the wait list. Six days before the class starts, the waitlist for that course stops so that anyone who received an email with permission to add has the chance to register before the class begins.
If you would like to add a course after census, which is usually two weeks after the start of a full term class, you will need to complete the Permission to Add After Census form.
During the first week of class, students may add themselves into a course with open seats, on their own, without an add code.

On your registration day: 1 Log onto the Student Portal, making sure you have selected the correct term. 2 Make sure that your internet browser’s pop-up blocker is turned off. (If an option comes up asking if you want to allow pop-ups, select “Always Allow” or the most similar option.) 3 Under “Admin” click “Registration”. 4 If you are doing your registration at the correct appointed date and time, you should see a list of available courses. 5 To use the search function, put the abbreviated course name and the course number into the next box and then click “Search.” For example, if you are looking for Computer Science 225, you should put CSCI 225 in the box. 6 Click the “Add” box to put the class on your registration list. 7 In order to register in a course, you must have satisfied both the prerequisite and co-requisite (see the course descriptions for more information). 8 To finalize your registration, click on the blue “Process Registration” button. 9 Once you click the “Process Registration” button, you will be officially registered. You will be led to a Registration Checkout page that will show your class schedule.
You can add or drop courses yourself on the Portal. You will only be able to add a course if you have enough money in your account to pay for the course.

Registration is the process by which eligible students reserve a seat for themselves in current or future classes. Students receive information from the Registrar’s Office each semester that detail the procedures for each term’s registration period.
Students are allowed to register for a maximum of 18 points of credit in any given semester.
Students who do not make adequate progress to the degree (an average of 15.5 points per term) will also face academic probation, suspension, or dismissal. Neither failure to attend classes nor giving unofficial notification to the instructor will constitute dropping or withdrawing from a course.
Students are held accountable for absences incurred owing to late enrollment. The University reserves the right to withhold the privilege of registration or any other University privilege from any person with an unpaid debt to the University. No student registered or enrolled in any school/college of the University shall at the same time be registered or enrolled in any other school/college, either of the University or of any other institution, without specific authorization from the dean/director of the school/college in which the student is first registered.
Some classes may be blocked for online registration and require written approval; students should check Vergil or the Directory of Classes for approval information. Courses blocked from online registration require additional approval, either in SSOL or through your academic advisor.
If you are not able to register through SSOL, check with your school for the proper procedure. Some classes may be blocked for web registration and require approval, written or electronic. SSOL will indicate this when you try to register.
Your appointment times will generally be available on Student Services Online. (SSOL) two weeks prior to the registration period, but specific registration instructions are announced by each school in advance of each registration period.
Certain cohorts of students may receive priority registration appointments when deemed appropriate by their school or program. The Office of the University Registrar adheres to each school’s guidelines for setting registration appointments. You must be registered for at least one class prior to the first day of classes each term.

Students may add or drop courses in SSOL, with Faculty or departmental approval, until the drop deadline. Once Faculty or departmental approval is granted, students will be sent an email to that effect and then must complete the registration action in SSOL by officially adding the course to their schedule using SSOL.
The Office of the Registrar maintains the permanent academic records of all Columbia College students. The office is also responsible for course registration, classroom scheduling, transcripts, transfer credit, certification of enrollments, issuing diplomas, and producing the Schedule of Classes.
(Students wishing to have directory information omitted from the annual Campus Directory must submit a written request to the Registrar by July 31 each academic year.
Confidential information placed in the educational record prior to January 1, 1975 , is excluded from student inspection. Students may not have access to records of instructional, supervisory, or administrative personnel which are in the sole possession of the maker.
These records may be reviewed by a professional selected by the student. Also included are financial records of parents.
Columbia College may provide directory information in accordance with the provision of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 without the written consent of an eligible student unless it is requested in writing that such information not be disclosed.
