A course that begins with zero (such as ENG 022) indicates that it doesn’t carry credit hours toward a degree. At some colleges, the last letter of the prefix helps further define the course, such as G for general, L for lab or C for combined lecture and lab.

Calculation of GPA based on diplomas with alphabetical grades on the ECTS scale. Each alphabetical grade is substituted by numerical equivalent: A=5.0, B=4.0, C=3.0, D=2.0 and E=1. The numerical equivalent is multiplied by the number of credits for the course. The products of the course and credits are totalled.
GPA is calculated by assigning a number to grades and then averaging them. An A is a four, B a three and so forth, leaving a failing grade as a zero. Therefore, five courses in which you had a B, B, C, A and F would add up to a 2.4 GPA if all the courses were for the same amount of credits.

Dean's List - A category of students in a college or university who achieve high grades during their stay in an academic term or academic year. At Greenville Technical College, all students who earn a minimum of 12 semester credit hours in 100-level courses and above, and who achieve a minimum GPA of 3.4 (with no grade lower than a "C"), will be placed on the Dean's List. All part-time students who earn a minimum of 6-11 semester credit hours in 100-level courses and above, and who achieve a minimum GPA of 3.4 (with no grade lower than a "C"), will also be placed on the Dean's List.
Greenville Technical College determines the student's financial aid eligibility based on the results of this formula. The formula takes into account the family's income, assets, number of family members, and number in the household attending college at least half-time.
Career Degree (AAS) - The Associate in Applied Science (AAS), or career degree, gives you technical skills for entry-level employment in the workforce. Although the AAS is not considered a transfer degree, agreements may be in place with other institutions that allow smooth transfer of credits.
