To add an attachment to your discussion, click the Choose File button [1]. If required by your institution, you will need to select usage right settings for your attachment. To post grades automatically, select the Automatically Post Grades option. When grades are posted automatically, students can view assignment grades as soon as they are entered . Note: If you select the Automatically Post Grades option after you have already hidden grades, previously hidden grades will remain hidden.
This label indicates that a manual posting policy is currently in place and future grades are hidden from student view.
In the Gradebook, you can select a default automatic or manual grade posting policy for all course assignments. Posting policies determine grade visibility for students.
Enabling a posting policy will not affect a student's ability to access their assessment scores in New Quizzes. Student visibility of New Quizzes scores must be managed from the assessment settings menu.
If you copy a course into a new course shell or import course content and include course settings as part of the import, the course posting policy from the original course will be copied into the new course. This will override any grade posting policy settings you have in the new course. Additionally, imported assignments will retain their assignment posting policy from the original course.
Additionally, when assignment grades are hidden, students cannot see their assignment grade, instructor comments, or grade change notifications. However, instructors can post comments to students before grades are entered. Course post policies apply to all course assignments by default. However, students can only see instructor comments if the instructor posts grades or submission comments. If you post grades for an assignment with varied due dates, all students will receive score results at the same time.
Custom links in your course navigation menu (created using the Redirect App) that point to content within your Canvas site are static links that do not update when imported into a new site. This means that once copied into the new course, the custom link will still point to your OLD Canvas site. You will need to manually update or delete/recreate these links in your new Canvas site. Please view the following help article on how to create a custom link in the course navigation using the Redirect tool for details.
Depending on how large your course is, this process may take several minutes to complete. You will be able to see the progress under the "Current Jobs" section of the Import Content page.
Canvas supports the ability to copy / import course content from one course to another. This functionality allows instructors to roll over course materials from semester to semester, course to course, without having to recreate a course from scratch. This copy process creates a clean version of course items like discussions, assignments, and quizzes in the receiving course site.
While the Import Course Content process brings over much of the Canvas developed content from a previous version of your course, there are a number of external applications that you may need to update separately to work correctly in the new copy of your course. After you have imported a copy of your course content, please be sure to review the " Refining and Updating Your Course" section below to ensure all components of your course will function correctly once you have copied your course materials.
