College of Biological Sciences students can initiate the process to request permission to drop a course by accessing the Late Drop Petition available in OASIS. Students from the other colleges must initiate this process by first meeting with an advisor in their college Dean's Office.

If you miss your pass time, you can still register during open hours. Students can register from 8 p.m. to midnight Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends during Pass 1 and Pass 2, after their individual appointment times have passed.

Croskey notes that dropping a class is better than withdrawing, but withdrawing is better than failing. “A failing grade will lower the student's GPA, which may prevent a student from participating in a particular major that has a GPA requirement,” Croskey says.
Withdrawal usually means the course remains on the transcript with a “W” as a grade. It does not affect the student's GPA (grade point average).
