Nicholas Glyn Paul Gumbel (born 1955), known as Nicky Gumbel, is an English Anglican priest and author in the evangelical and charismatic traditions. He is known as the developer of the Alpha Course, a basic introduction to Christianity supported by churches of many Christian traditions.
The Alpha Course had been founded in 1977, by the Reverend Charles Marnham, but Gumbel developed it into its current format. Courses involve sessions over a 10-week period, which are preceded by informal suppers.31 Mar 2013

There is no pressure, no follow-up and no charge; it’s just an open, informal, and honest space to explore and discuss life’s big questions together.
Probably the most important part of any Alpha: the chance to share thoughts and ideas about the talk. Immediately following the video, we’ll break into smaller groups via video chat and continue the discussion online. Our Alpha Hosts will help assign guests into groups.
