The Mathematics Placement Assessment will help you and your advisor determine the right Mathematics course for you. The assessment will take approximately 90 minutes to complete. After the assessment, a targeted Prep and Learning Module is available for you to review and learn material, and to improve placement and eventual course outcomes.
You want to take Math 0220 and meet at least one of the following conditions: have scored a 4 or 5 on the Math AB or Math BC Advanced Placement Exam. have gotten a C or better in Math 0200. have gotten a C or better in a transfer course equivalent to Math 0200.

After your first attempt, it is highly recommended that you spend at least one hour in the Prep and Learning modules. The Prep and Learning modules are an individualized, adaptive learning path that is created for each student based on how they performed on the assessment. Spending time working through the Prep and Learning module will allow a student to refresh and review topics that may have been forgotten. Students will have access to the Prep and Learning modules for up to six months.
During this time, students are able to answer the questions at their own pace. The assessment will consist of 25–30 questions.

QR101 is a prerequisite for all Category B Science and Quantitative Reasoning courses . You must take this course before satisfying the general education requirement unless your ALEKS score is 53% or higher. 53 to 75. Any course with a prerequisite of “QR101 or equivalent”.
The only students who should sign up for QR101 are those who have used the learning modules for at least 8 hours, and retested, and did not achieve a mastery level of 53% or above. However, you will be more successful in all of these courses if your ALEKS scores are better than the minimum required.
TAKE YOUR TIME WITH THIS TUTORIAL. ALEKS scores of 30 or higher reflect adequate preparation for college-level math. ALEKS scores cannot be interpreted in the same way as exam grades. If you score lower than 30, Penn State has coursework appropriate for you, or you can use ALEKS to review and retest.
There is no benefit to inflating or deflating your abilities on the ALEKS math assessment. ALEKS scores will not change your acceptance to Penn State.
